MARSHALL, ILL. —
A longtime spring tradition will continue when the Evening Thyme Garden Club presents the 14th annual Garden Fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 19 at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Marshall, with free admission and parking.
Looking for an ornamental Japanese Maple or a beautiful hanging basket? Need a unique gift for that special gardener in the family? How about a metal lawn sculpture, decorative concrete planter, birdhouse or a cute hat? Ready to plant tomatoes, peppers, herbs, petunias, daylilies, irises, geraniums or flowering shrubs? Find all these and more at the fair.
Veteran fairgoers will find many favorite vendors returning, along with several new ones.
Among them are: The Freckled Lady from Marshall, bringing all sorts of whimsical garden décor; The Life of Riley Honey Farm from Terre Haute with a variety of bee products; My Kind of Crazy Ironwork by Abi Snyder of Marshall; The Glass Garden from Oblong, Ill., featuring flowers made from dishes; and Thirty-One by Kelly Livvix of Marshall, selling totes and purses in colorful garden prints.
Dean and Kay Martin will serve biscuits and gravy for breakfast and pork burgers for lunch, with drinks available.
The Marshall Garden Club will offer homemade desserts and other treats. This year’s grand raffle prize is a one-piece settee with two seats and a connecting table.
Tickets are $1 or six for $5 and are available from any garden club member or may be purchased at the fair. Other donated prizes will be given away every half hour during the day.
The Evening Thyme Garden Club is a not-for-profit organization, with proceeds from the fair and the raffle going to support yearly projects.
Among those are the Butterfly Project at Marshall North Elementary School, the Water Tower Park and Post Office plantings and upkeep, and the Martie Cantrell Memorial Scholarship, given to a high school senior interested in horticulture or agriculture.
