Ivy Tech sponsoring ‘Movie Night in Rockville’

ROCKVILLE — Ivy Tech Community College — Wabash Valley has had a presence in Rockville for many years. In celebration of that connection, Ivy Tech is sponsoring “Movie Night in Rockville” beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.

Kicking things off will be the movie, “The Dark Knight Rises” at the Ritz Theater, 210 W. Ohio St., one-half block west of the square in Rockville.

A second movie, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” will be shown at Beechwood Park beginning at 9:30 p.m. Beechwood Park is a town park at the intersection of College and Pennsylvania Streets in Rockville. Both movies are free to the public.

The public should bring chairs and blankets to the movie in Beechwood Park.

Ivy Tech Community College — Wabash Valley offers classes at the Parke County Learning Center, 519 N. Lincoln Road. Fall classes begin Aug. 20.

“The Dark Knight Rises” is a 2012 Batman movie directed by Christopher Nolan and released this month. Batman is played by Christian Bale. The plot of the film is that Batman, who has been labeled an enemy of Gotham and is now called The Dark Knight, saves the city from a terrorist.

“Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” is a 2012 American 3D science fiction adventure film based on a sequel to the Jules Verne novel “Journey to the Center of the Earth.” The plot involves a young man partnering with his step-father on a mission to find his grandfather, who is thought to be missing on a mythical island. An interesting twist that makes for complications on the island is the law that all things big are small and all things small are gigantic.
