Kicking Bear Program Aug. 17, 18 at Shakamak

JASONVILLE — Shakamak State Park will be the location for one of the premier outdoor youth mentoring events in the Midwest on Aug. 17 and 18 — the Kicking Bear 1 on 1 Program for children of all ages.

This unique event starts with registration at 5 p.m. Friday and wraps up on Saturday afternoon. The programs are designed for children of all ages, but families are encouraged to participate together. All programs are free and open to the public.

Friday night includes dinner provided by the sponsoring businesses and organizations, as well as a campout. Families should bring tents and sleeping bags.

Saturday activities will include demonstrations by and some participation in: archery, air-evac helicopter activities, the Linton Police Department and the K-9 Unit, the Bomb Squad from Crane NSWC, Jasonville Fire Department, Duke Energy’s Live Wire Demonstration, a bounce house  and more. Breakfast and lunch on Saturday are also included.
