Elevate Martinsville Christian music festival is Saturday

MARTINSVILLE, ILL. — Elevate Martinsville 2012 — a one-day Christian music festival located at the Martinsville Fairgrounds — is scheduled for Saturday. The lineup features Billboard Christian chart toppers Kutless, Josh Wilson and for King & Country, as well as Florida artists Terrace Lake Worship.

Gates open at 4 p.m., and the music starts at 5.

Tickets are priced as follows: $15, ages 11 and older; $5, ages 3 to 10; free, ages 2 and under. Advanced ticket purchases will be entered into a drawing to come back stage and meet the bands. To order tickets online, go to www.elevatemartinsville.com/info.html.

Inflatables will be set up for the kids at no extra charge. Food vendors will be present. Coolers are allowed, but no alcohol.

With 2 million records sold across its first five efforts, Oregon rock band Kutless had already made a strong name for itself. But the late 2009 release of “It Is Well,” the quintet’s second worship set, continues to be a complete game changer. The act’s first No. 1 adult contemporary single, “What Faith Can Do,” drew solid reviews (“Cleverly arranged covers, soul-catching originals” — Christian Music Today; “Perfectly fitted guitar work” — allmusic.com; “No tracks worth skipping” — Jesus Freak Hideout).

Singer/songwriter Josh Wilson grew up the son of a preacher in Lubbock, Texas. He signed to Sparrow Records in 2006 and released his major label debut, “Trying to Fit the Ocean in a Cup” in 2008. The album was met with critical acclaim, hailed by Christian Retailing as “the future of Christian pop” and named among the Top Ten Best Albums of 2008 by GospelMusicChannel.com. Since then he has released numerous No. 1 hits including “Savior Please” and the powerful track “Before the Morning,” which recently landed the No. 4 spot on Billboard’s Year-End Christian Songs chart, while also releasing a sophomore album, “Life Is Not A Snapshot” and a compilation self-titled record. His third studio album “See You” was released last year. Wilson also attracted national media attention and a breakout viral video when he had travelers at the Newark airport breakout in The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” during a six-hour security lockdown.

Australian-born and Nashville transplanted for King & Country’s music continues to gain momentum with fans and peers alike as several album tracks have already been featured in primetime television spots. “Love’s to Blame” and “People Change” have been featured on the popular CW series, “The Vampire Diaries” and “Light It Up” and “Sane” have been heard on the Lifetime network’s “Drop Dead Diva.”

The song “Light It Up,” a tangible anthem for the group, was inspired by a friend of theirs who has had a long standing struggle with depression.

With tracks produced by Shaun Shankel, Aqualung and Ben Glover, for King & Country’s debut album is “Crave.” The first single, “Busted Heart (Hold On to Me)” is among the duo’s newer compositions and was inspired from a conversation on the brokenness that every person feels at some point in life.
