The fourth annual Hoosier Outdoor Experience, which is free to all participants, is coming to Indianapolis’ Fort Harrison State Park on Sept. 15-16.
As in previous years, there will be activities for everyone, from archery and target shooting to mountain biking, various types of fishing, canoeing, kayaking and much more. All activities are free. Participants can also bring their own food, although food booths and trucks will be selling specialties.
The Hoosier Outdoor Experience, which runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day that weekend, is presented by the DNR and the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation. The goal is to introduce people to outdoor activities they may have never tried.

NEW YORK — Annette Funicello, who became a child star as a perky, cute-as-a-button Mouseketeer on “The Mickey Mouse Club” in the 1950s, then teamed up with Frankie Avalon in a string of ‘60s fun-in-the-sun movies with titles like “Beach Blanket Bingo” and “Bikini Beach,” died today. She was 70.
