Terre Foods plans July 19 Blueberry Fest

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Foods Cooperative Market has set plans for its fourth annual Blueberry Fest on July 19 at the Central Presbyterian Church on Seventh Street.

The festival will feature native organic blueberries from the Blueberry Ranch in northern Indiana (Grainger/Mishawaka). The fest sold 1,500 pounds of blueberries in 2011.

As in past years, the festival is a “green event” that utilizes compostable bowls and utensils. An innovation for this year encourages patrons to bring their own bowls and spoons. Those who do will be entered in a raffle drawing for prizes later in the day. The fun starts at 11 a.m. and will continue until 7 p.m.

Blueberry sundaes will be $5 and quarts of blueberries will be available for $7. Baked goods will also be available, and a variety of venders will be on hand. Music will be provided by:

• PapaPatty — 11 a.m. to noon

• Coon Holler Kids— noon to 1 p.m.

• Tom Roznowski— 1 to 2 p.m.

• Women of Erin — 2 to 3 p.m.

• Brent McPike & Solly Burton — 3 to 4 p.m.

Proceeds from the Blueberry Fest will benefit TFCM, a member-owned natural/local/organic foods cooperative.

TFCM currently has 446 members and is looking to expand its membership lists. There will be TFCM members at the event to explain the mission of the cooperative and to sign up new members. Patrons who become TFCM members will receive a free quart of blueberries.

The Blueberry Fest is supported by more than 70 volunteers who help prepare and serve the treats, among other tasks. To volunteer to help email Tina Newsham at terrefoodsvolunteers@gmail.com.

To contribute bake goods contact Susie Lanoo at (812) 299-2818, or by email at sjlannoo@gmail.com. For more information contact Holly Hudson at hhudson40@gmail.com.
