TERRE HAUTE — The Vigo County CASA Kids program invites the community to attend the first CASA Kids Gala on Saturday at the First Financial Forest Park, 4856 Mill Dam Road in Terre Haute, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The CASA Kids Gala will include a silent auction with more than 30 baskets and items including an Austin Collie autographed football, original local artwork, sports packages and memorabilia, season tickets to the Terre Haute Community Theatre, tickets to Holiday World and more. Bidding on these items will end promptly at 4 p.m.

There will be free games and activities, including a bounce house for the children. They can earn tickets and cash them in for prizes from the Treasure Chest.

There will also be a bake sale and food will be served: BBQ pulled pork sandwiches for $3 and hot dogs for $2. Sides and drinks are $1 each.

CASA Kids is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to support the Vigo County CASA program and improve the lives of the children served by the CASA program. CASA is an acronym for Court Appoint Special Advocates. Vigo County CASA recruits, trains and manages community volunteers to represent the needs and wishes of children who are in the juvenile court system because of abuse and neglect.

CASA Kids raises money to support these efforts and provides funding for goods and services for the children. Since its inception in 2008, CASA Kids has provided children with a wide array of goods including clothing, bedding, tutoring, summer camps, sports activities, art workshops and many other goods and services not provided by any other source.
