Bach's Birthday

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 215 N. Seventh St., will host a J.S. Bach 325th Birthday Celebration at 4 p.m. Sunday.

This dedicatory recital for the new Johannus organ will include parish organist Dennis Dieken, along with members from the Wabash Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, Frank Acker, Bill Cain, Trish Eccles and Gary Jenkins, playing music by Bach, Buxtehude, Mendelssohn and Rheinberger.

Performers Peggy Balensuela, mezzo-soprano, and William Denton, oboe, will perform two Bach cantata arias.

The new organ is a gift to St. Stephen’s from Trish and Bill Eccles of Terre Haute.

The public is invited to attend this celebration. A German-themed reception will follow in the Great Hall.

Some of the world’s most beloved music will be heard during the two-hour show at 7:30 p.m. in Tilson Auditorium, which will feature an appearance by the Terre Haute Community Band.
