Bridgeton Country Christmas celebration to last two weekends

Bridgeton will be hosting its annual Country Christmas celebration starting today. The shops will be open and full of gifts today through Sunday and Nov. 30 to Dec. 2. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Vendors will be in the 1878 Barn, Collom’s General Store, the North Pole Barn — and new this year, the Old Town Hall will be open the second weekend only. Some vendors are new, but many return from the Covered Bridge Festival. Kids may visit Santa in the 1822 Case Log Cabin, from 1 to 3 p.m. both Saturdays and Sundays.

Enjoy a chicken and noodles dinner at Collom’s or Bridgeton Country Store, or try the Mill Snack Shop, Hen House coffee shop or Old Bank for kettle corn. Visit the mill for organic stone ground products; and Ye Olde Covered Bridge Shoppe, the 1878 House, 1822 Log Cabin, the Baldrige House and Carriage House with the Emporium and Bad News Garage, and the Bridgeton Country Store for gifts, antiques and collectibles.

Enjoy the lights and decorations in the historic district and listen to Christmas music. Admission is free; free parking is available.

Take a scenic drive through hills and valleys in southern Parke County. Bridgeton is located nine miles south of Rockville, or take Indiana 59 north from Brazil to the Bridgeton highway sign, or travel east of Rosedale, eight miles. Just follow the signs to Bridgeton. For further information call 765-548-2136.
