Shawnee Theatre to host Festival of Trees

BLOOMFIELD — The eighth annual Festival of Trees, a fundraiser for the Shawnee Theatre, once again ushers in the Holiday Season for Greene County.

The event runs Nov. 18-20, and 25-27. The Festival offers activities for all ages. Admission is free.

The Greene County 4-H Fairgrounds Building in Switz City will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland with more than 30 trees decorated by theme by imaginitive individual volunteers, businesses and community groups.

A silent auction is planned for the fully-decorated trees and wreaths, with the final bids closing at 3 p.m. Nov. 27.

Both children and adults will enjoy the decorated trees, wreaths and holiday items.

Also available will be refreshments and a Country Store featuring books, homemade applebutter and baked goods.

The Greene County Extension Home Economics clubs will offer Homemade candy and other goodies.

Santa Clause will visit from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Nov. 26.

The Festival will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.

Returning guests say that the Festival of Trees is the best place to do pre-Christmas shopping, and all for a terrific cause.

Organizers say additional volunteers are always welcome. The trees can be purchased and decorated by the sponsor or volunteers. For more information call (812) 384-7247 or (812) 863-9229.

The Fairgrounds are on Indiana 54, one mile east of Switz City, five miles west of Bloomfield, and one mile west of the Indiana 54, 57/231 junction.
