Brazil Concert Band presents ‘A Touch of Tuba and a Touch of Class’

BRAZIL, Ind. — The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, presents “A Touch of Tuba and a Touch of Class” at 8 p.m. Sunday at Forest Park.

Featured soloist Jason Alsip, tuba, will perform the classic Jacob’s work “Tuba Concerto.”

Alsip, a 20 year veteran of the Brazil Concert Band, is a graduate of Indiana State University where he performed in the University Wind Ensemble.

The BCB will present for the first time the finale from “Symphony No. 1 In E Flat” by French composer Camille Saint-Saens.

This classic work will be conducted by 2012 ISU graduate Janelle R. Huber.

Two grand classics from Great Britain, “Folk Song Suite” by Vaughan-Williams and “First Suite in E Flat” by Holst are standouts and back by popular demand from both the BCB musicians and the audience.

A Sousa song “I’ve Made My Plans For The Summer” and his march “The Corcoran Cadets” are slated along with Jewell’s “Imperial Council” and “Fillmore’s comic poke at the classics “The Poet, Peasant and the Light Cavalryman.”
