Terre Haute North presenting 'Cinderella' musical this weekend

TERRE HAUTE —  

The singing and dramatic talents of Terre Haute North High School students will be featured as the Department of Music presents the classic fairytale “Cinderella” tonight and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s auditorium. 

General admission tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and youths. Tickets will be available at the ticket office before each show and seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Carriage rides will also be available in front of the school before each show at $5 per person.

Cinderella tells the story of a young woman’s struggle to overcome the betrayal of her cruel stepmother and two stepsisters, through the help of a fairy godmother. Cinderella overcomes life’s struggles to meet and fall in love with the handsome prince at the kingdom’s fancy ball. However, her wonderful night is short-lived and she must return to her life as a peasant. She leaves behind a glass slipper which becomes the focus of the prince’s goal to find his true love.

The production features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II which include such songs as “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful,” “A Lovely Night” and “It’s Possible.”

Senior Kelsey Hamilton and junior Ethan Brewer play the lead roles as Cinderella and the Prince. The cast also features Selanda Brown as the Godmother; Savanna Richardson as the Queen; Caroline Dultz as the Stepmother; Abby Cunning and Kari Kirchner as the two stepsisters; Jordan Allen as the King; Eric Watson, Darren Saunders and Eliot Utterback as the Knights of Knowbility; Jillian Turner as the Little Girl and Simon McNair as the Chef.

The production is directed by Michelle Azar and Cathy Sponsler with Kurt Perry as musical accompanist and Rodney Foster as orchestra director. Cate Walsh is the choreographer and Lyndsay Hoff is the dance captain
