TERRE HAUTE — The public is invited to a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner-Dance, hosted by Centenary United Methodist Church from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 13.
Music will be provided by the popular Men of Note Band, led by retired Indiana State professor George Graesch. The event will be conducted in the church’s fellowship hall at 301 N. Seventh St.
Tickets for the evening, which include both the meal and entertainment, are $25 each and may be purchased at the church or reserved by calling (812) 232-2319. Proceeds from the elegant evening will benefit three causes: Haiti relief, United Campus Ministries, and 14th and Chestnut Community Center.
The menu for the evening features Rick’s Smokehouse beef brisket or turkey breast, accompanied by baked potato, green beans, coleslaw, Irish soda bread, St. Patrick’s Day cake and ice cream, and coffee or tea.
About the causes: The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) reacted immediately after the recent earthquake in Haiti, has set up a field office in Haiti and anticipates three phases of recovery work: emergency, recovery and rehabilitation. United Campus Ministries provides services to students at Indiana State University, St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Students attend study groups, worship services and other activities in the United Campus Ministries building just north of Centenary at Seventh and Chestnut streets. The 14th & Chestnut Community Center serves as a safe haven for the children in the neighborhood, providing after-school and summer programs. Children are fed through the Grumbling Tummies Café and families get much-needed food supplies from Mother Hubbard’s food pantry.
