Tractor pull, cornhole, parade all part of Cory Apple Festival

TERRE HAUTE — The Cory Volunteer Fire Department and the Cory Community will be presenting the 41st Annual Cory Apple Festival today, Saturday and Sunday. Featured meals at the firehouse include a hog roast, Jonah fish fry and chicken noodle dinner.

Participants are needed for the One Mile Fun Run/Walk and 5K Race, Golf Scramble at Hoosier Hills, Cornhole Tournament, Kiddie Pedal Tractor Pull, Car and Motorcycle Show, Redneck Riding Lawnmower Demolition Derby, Garden Tractor Pull and Parade.

All around town, there will be crafts, a flea market, antique yard sale and food booths, along with rock, country, folk and gospel music.

Booth space is still available for anyone interested in having a craft, flea market or antique stand. To reserve a spot, contact Lana Hendrix at (812) 864-2229.

The One Mile Fun Run and Walk, followed by a 5K Race, will take place Saturday.

Registration will be from 8 to 8:30 a.m.

The One Mile Fun Run will begin at 8:45 a.m., with the 5K starting at approximately 9 a.m. Entry forms can be printed from the WVRR website at www.wvrr.org. (Select “Area Races,” then “Cory Race.”) For more information, call Kim Jackson at (812) 864-2422.

Hoosier Hills Golf Course will sponsor a golf scramble Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. There will be awards. To register, contact Hoosier Hills at (812) 864-2304.

A Corn Hole Tournament will begin at 1 p.m. Registration will begin at noon.

Saturday will feature the Car and Motorcycle Show. The show will run from noon to 4 p.m. Judging will end at 2 p.m. and awards will be presented at 4 p.m.

There will be cash drawings every half hour and DJ music all afternoon. Registration will be $10 the day of the show.

Back again this year will be Stanford’s Redneck Riding Lawnmower Demolition Derby, on the main festival grounds from 1 to 4 p.m. Registration will be from noon to 1 p.m.

Participants must be 18 and bring their own helmet and lawnmower with a $25 registration fee. There will be cash prizes and trophies.

A Women’s Powder Puff Derby will also be offered; there is no entry fee, and trophies will be presented to the first three places.
