TERRE HAUTE —
A phone system problem at the Vigo County Courthouse has slowed down vote counting tonight.
Over two-thirds of the county’s 87 precincts had electronically filed their results when a problem prevented the remaining precincts from reporting.
The problem left the phone system unable to handle additional electronic reporting, requiring election officials to drive their ballots to the courthouse for counting, county officials said.
As of 7:10 p.m., 75 of the county’s 87 precincts had reported. About 10 of them had to be driven to the courthouse due to the telephone system glitch.
It was not immediately clear how much longer it would take to receive and count the remaining precinct results.
