Correction: Feb. 18, 2011

The Tribune-Star

TERRE HAUTE — A photo of Thomas W. Arnold, 34, of Brazil, that appeared in the Thursday edition of the Tribune-Star is not a recent mugshot taken at the Vigo County jail.

Assistant Chief Shawn Keen of the Terre Haute Police Department said that the photo is from a January 2008 arrest of Arnold on charges of intimidation, battery by bodily waste, battery on police, habitual traffic violator, resisting law enforcement and criminal mischief. During that 2008 encounter, Arnold not only fought with officers, but damaged a squad car, which caused him to be placed in a transport van to be taken to jail. That struggle resulted in some of the injuries to Arnold visible in the mugshot.
