Sally A. Larr Smith

TERRE HAUTE — Sally A. Larr Smith, 59, of Terre Haute died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, in Union Hospital. She was born Oct. 2, 1951, in Terre Haute to Robert Kirtley Larr and Dorothy Joyce Lexier Larr. She was a retired social worker for Union Hospital.

Survivors include her life partner of 23 years, Billie Biggs of Terre Haute; a son, Wm. Brad Smith and Kim of Terre Haute; two daughters, Julie Smith of Albuquerque, N.M. and Shelley Smith and her fiancée Dusty Byerley of Terre Haute; a brother, John Larr of Terre Haute; three sisters, Betsy Larr Marshall of Terre Haute, Debi Larr Emerson of Lafayette, and Tracy Larr Hofmann of Mt. Airy, Md.; five grandchildren, Adrian Smith, Joseph Livingston, Shane Livingston, Amber Smith, and Hayley Byerley; nieces and nephews, Sarah, Shane, and Ryan Marshall, Corey and Lucas Swartz, Kristin Larr and Matthew and Nathan Hofmann; one aunt and uncle, Roberta and Stanley Smith.

Sally loved to scrapbook, read books, listen to music and watch football. She was an avid IU fan, having graduated from there with a Masters in Social Work, and she wore Colts Blue with pride. Christmas was her favorite time of year. Her sense of humor and love of family made her the mesh that held them together. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends. When you became part of her life you were part of it forever. She was a hero to her family, the strongest person they knew.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Terre Haute. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, in the funeral home. The family kindly request that memorial contributions be made to The Chaplin’s office c/o Union Hospital, 1606 North 7th Street, Terre Haute, IN. 47804.
