    Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s Hatfield Hall Theater will be transformed into one of America’s great concert halls when Big Bad Voodoo Daddy brings the big band sounds of Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman and Count Basie to town for a spectacular show that kicks off the college’s 2011-12 Performing Arts Series.

    Rehearsals are under way for the Terre Haute Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra’s fall concerts. The “Blue and the Grey” concert commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War will be presented at 3 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Scottish Rite Theatre. The second concert, “Christmas at the Woods,” will be presented at 3 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Cecilian Auditorium at St. Mary-of-the-Woods-College.

    The new “Rising Star of California,” violin prodigy Stephen Kim, will perform Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in D Minor in Indiana State University’s Tilson Auditorium in Terre Haute at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 along with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra.
