Jason Aldean to headline Hulman Center concert

Artist’s hits include ‘Hicktown,’ tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today

TERRE HAUTE — The musical side of Indiana State University’s Hulman Center appears to be reawakening this spring.

A concert featuring a lineup of country artists topped by Jason Aldean is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. April 10 in the Terre Haute facility at 200 N. Eighth St.

Aldean’s list of hits includes “Hicktown” from his self-titled debut album in 2005 for Broken Bow Records, “Johnny Cash” from his sophomore release, “Relentless,” and “Big Green Tractor” from his third album, “Wide Open.” The show will be part of Aldean’s Wide Open 2010 Tour.

Opening acts are Luke Bryan, a Best New Solo Vocalist nominee for the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards, and Ash Bowers.

Bryan released his debut album, “I’ll Stay Me,” for Capitol Records Nashville in 2007 and his second album, “Doin’ My Thing,” includes his hit single “Do I,” as well as his latest release, “Rain Is A Good Thing.”

Stoney Creek Records artist Ash Bowers released his debut single “Stuck,” in September and his second single, “Ain’t No Stopping Her Now,” in January of this year.

The last Hulman Center concert was a trio of faith-based rock bands, topped by Skillet, in April 2009.

The last general-interest concert in the building was by rock legend John Mellencamp on Oct. 26, 2007. Hulman Center’s most recent country shows were in early 2006, featuring Brad Paisley in January and Gretchen Wilson that March.
