Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival kicks off Saturday

BEAN BLOSSOM — The 45th annual Bill Monroe Memorial Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival will take place Saturday through June 18 at the Bill Monroe Music Park, 5163 N. Indiana 135 in Bean Blossom, five miles north of Nashville, Ind.

The eight-day event includes a stellar line-up of more than 50 bluegrass bands, Youth Bluegrass Boot Camp, instrument and vocal workshops, jam sessions, camping, food, vendors and more. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 1-800-414-4677 or at the park’s website address at www.beanblossom.US.

The Bill Monroe Music Park will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of  Monroe’s birth this year including a special live album recording by Rural Rhythm Records with performances by: Lonesome River Band, Russell Moore & III Tyme Out, Lou Reid & Carolina, Audie Blaylock & Redline, Blue Moon Rising, Grasstowne, Brand New Strings, Bobby Osborne & Rocky Top Express, Carolina Road, The Bartley Brothers and more.

The line-up includes:

Saturday — Larry Sparks & The Lonesome Ramblers, Tony Rice Unit, Hill Benders, Larry Keel, Junior Sisk, Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers, Larry Stephenson, and Tommy Brown & County Line Grass.

Sunday — The Bartley Brothers, Jesse Perdue Band, Sullivan Family, Goldwing Express, Tommy Brown & County Line Grass, Daniel Patrick Band, and Joe Mullins & Radio Ramblers.

Monday — Kenny and Amanda Smith, Don Stanley & Middle Creek, Larry Gillis Band, David Davis & The Warrior River Boys, Newfound Road, Spinney Brothers, Moron Brothers, and Goldwing Express.

Tuesday —  Russell More & IIIrd Time Out, Charlie Sizemore Band, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Carolina Road, Wildwood Valley Boys, Spinney Brothers, Moron Brothers, Remmington Ryde, Magnolia Ramblers, and the Youth Boot Camp performs!

Wednesday — Lonesome River Band, The Grascals, J.D. Crowe & The New South, Special Consensus, Jr. Blankenship, Little Roy & Lizzy Show, Remmington Ryde, Magnolia Ramblers, and David Parmley & Continental Divide.

Thursday — Audie Blaylock & Redline, J.D. Crowe & The New South, Special Consensus, Marty Raybon, The Boxcars, Melvin Goins, The Expedition Show, Sierra Hull, and Larry Efaw.

June 17 — Ronnie Reno & The Reno Tradition, Lou Reid and Carolina, Blue Moon Rising, Brand New Strings, James King Band, Ralph Stanley II, Melvin Goins & Windy Mountain, and Tommy Sells & Big Country.

June 18 — Dr. Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys, Bobby Osborne & Rocky Top X-Press, Grasstowne, Jesse McReynolds, James King Band, Karl Shiflett & The Big Country Show, Tommy Sells & Big Country Bluegrass, and Randy Waller & The Country Gentlemen.

The Youth Boot Camp is Sunday through June 14. The camp is open to ages 6 to 18 years and offers more than 15 hours of professional instruction in all levels, beginner through advanced for banjo, guitar, fiddle, bass and mandolin.
