LTC to present fall evening of music

ROBINSON, ILL. — Lincoln Trail College will present its annual Fall Concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 in the Zwermann Arts Center theater. Featured performers include the Statesmen Singers, Concert Band and Jazz Band.

Directed by Yvonne Newlin, the Statesmen Singers will perform favorites such as “All of Me,” “Once Upon a Time” from the Broadway musical “All American,” the Jon Hendricks tune “Cloudburst,” as well as patriotic songs and more.

Instrumental music by the Concert Band will include songs with a water theme, such as “River Medley,” “Hawaii Five-O Theme,” “Beer Barrel Polka” and an arrangement of Beethoven’s Fifth and “God Bless America.” The Pep Band will also play upbeat tunes.

Rounding out the evening of music is LTC’s Jazz Band directed by Ken Strieby. This entertaining group will perform selections including “Mack the Knife,” “Conga,” “My Way,” “Minority Ruling” and “Trumpet City.” This exciting ensemble will also play some original charts and arrangements by Allen Vizzutti, who will be the guest artist at LTC’s third annual Jazz Day on Jan. 12.

Tickets, $8 for adults and $4 for students, may be purchased at the Performing Arts Office by calling (618) 544-8657, ext. 1433 or at the door prior to the performance.
