Art metal band comes to Ole Simrell’s

Three-piece art metal band Pvrenchymv (puh-RENG-kuh-muh) comes to Terre Haute’s Ole Simrell’s on June 5. About the band name, Joel (bass) explained, “We connected with the concept of the word which in original Greek means ‘to pour into,’ and implied that whatever was poured into a void would become exactly what was needed there. It perfectly described our view of music.”

Besides tight musicianship and a progressive tribal sound, Pvrenchymv has earned a reputation for their dark and moody visual performance. “Since every venue is different,” said Matt (guitar/vocalist), “we decided to control as much of the show as possible, including the lighting. We want our audience to get caught up in an experience, not just the music.”

The band is currently touring to promote their new album, Shaping the Invisible. Shem (percussion) said of Terre Haute, “We love playing here. Ole Simrell’s has kept the metal scene very much alive and we’ve always gotten tremendous support.” Already at work on their second release, fans can expect to hear several new songs in the set, as well as favorites from the current album.

With Pvrenchymv and Blood of Me (from St. Louis), Terre Haute’s own The Hanis Project and Canopic fill the bill. Music starts at 9 p.m.

Cost is $5 at the door; patrons must be 21 or older. Visit pvrenchymv.com or myspace.com/pvrenchymv for more information.
