ISU suspends senior guard Harry Marshall indefinitely

Indiana State men’s basketball coach Kevin McKenna confirmed Monday that ISU senior guard Harry Marshall has been indefinitely suspended from the team for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Marshall did not practice with the team on Monday at Hulman Center. McKenna said it was the first practice Marshall missed due to his suspension.

McKenna said that Marshall is not off the team or academically ineligible, but a date for Marshall’s return to the Sycamores has not been determined. Marshall will miss tonight’s ISU’s exhibition game against Rose-Hulman.

“Harry won’t play tomorrow night due to a violation of team rules.

“We’ll see what happens with him,” McKenna said.

Marshall started 22 games for the Sycamores at point guard in 2008-09 and is an integral player on both ends of the floor for ISU. He averaged a team-high 13.6 points and had 94 assists. Marshall was an honorable mention selection on the All-MVC Preseason team.

Marshall, who came to ISU as a walk-on as a 21st Century Scholar in 2006 when Royce Waltman was head coach, eventually earned a scholarship due to his rapid progress and ability to compete in the guard-rich Missouri Valley Conference.

Marshall missed eight games to start the 2008-09 season as he was academically ineligible for first semester games.

In other roster news, ISU will also be without guard Aaron Carter, who is sick with the H1N1 flu virus. ISU guard Jordan Printy returned to practice on Monday after he had missed time due to bronchitis. All other ISU players participated in Monday’s practice.
