OMAHA, NEB. —
Ryan Strausborger, who recently ended his college baseball career at Indiana State, has been selected as one of three outfielders nationally for the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, which is chosen by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
Strausborger, a senior from Osceola, started all 54 games during the 2010 season, helping ISU to .976 team fielding percentage that was 10th-best nationally.
Of Strausborger’s 54 starts, 46 of them came in center field, where he recorded 126 putouts and six assists without committing an error.
Nine players from each division are announced at each division’s national championship finals. Each winner receives the Rawlings Gold Glove Award similar to the MLB award. Each recipient’s school also receives the award for permanent display.
Strausborger, a 16th-round draft pick by the Texas Rangers, played in 207 games over his four years at ISU, starting in 202. He was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference first team in each of his last three years as a Sycamore, earning the selection at three different positions (utility in 2008, second base in 2009 and outfield in 2010).
Strausborger is currently with the Spokane Indians, who are a member of the Class A Short-Season Northwest League.
