At the end of the day on Nov. 24, after 23 years of dedicated service with the Indiana Department of Correction, Correctional Officer Kenny Hall retired from the Rockville Correctional Facility.
Hall began his career at the facility on April 10, 1989, and helped the institution transition from an adult male facility into a juvenile male facility that eventually became an adult women’s facility. This transition included the demolition of military barracks, as the site was originally a U.S. Air Force Base, and construction of modern correctional dormitories.
“Physically, this isn’t anything like the place I started working at,” Hall said when discussing the transformation.
Throughout his career, Hall made himself available for a wide range of training and duty assignments. Over the past several years he had the versatility to work nearly any post at the facility. As a mentor to staff who joined the IDOC team after him, Hall always took the time to talk to them and to make them feel welcome. Through his many years as a trip officer, he was able to extend these same courtesies to staff from other IDOC and law enforcement entities. He never left anyone without at least the offer of assistance with any task.
Recently while reflecting on his IDOC career, Hall noted that when he hired into the Department, he wasn’t necessarily looking for a career, simply a job to support himself and his family. As he grew along with the Department and RCF, he came to really enjoy the job.
“I have seen a lot of changes in the Department and here at Rockville, and feel very lucky to have been a part of them,” Hall said.

Johns Dental currently employs approximately 100 people with more than 50 percent of the technicians working in the dental field for 20 years or more.
