TERRE HAUTE — Staples associates from the Terre Haute Staples Retail Distribution Center raised $500 in 2009 for the Terre Haute Children’s Museum, which was matched with $500 in Staples We Care Gift Cards. Lynn Hughes, executive director of the Terre Haute Children’s Museum, accepted the check and gift cards from the Distribution Center’s Soul Committee at their January meeting.
“We are so grateful to Staples and the local Staples associates for their generous support of the Terre Haute Children’s Museum,” Hughes said. “Their hard work and contributions are greatly appreciated, and these gifts will certainly help us as we work to open the new museum in September.”
Since it opened its doors in 1988, the Terre Haute Children’s Museum has been a fun and exciting destination for children and families, and its mission is to “enrich our children’s lives through the exploration of science and technology.” The Museum is currently in a capital campaign for a new 26,000-square-foot facility, which will include a wide range of hands-on science and technology exhibits.
To date, the Museum has received donations of $4.9 million toward a goal of $5.5 million. Sponsorship opportunities are still available, including naming area rights and exhibit sponsorships. Individuals, families, groups, organizations and businesses can also put their names on the Children’s Museum by sponsoring a brick or limestone.
