Series meant to boost business

MARSHALL, Ill. — The Marshall Public Library and the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to provide businesses and prospective entrepreneurs with a program series meant to boost business.

Three topics will be presented on different evenings in the Dale McConchie Meeting Room at Marshall Public Library, 612 Archer Ave., in Marshall, Ill.

• Deana Nuxoll, president of Imagine This! Marketing Group of Effingham, Ill., will present “Marketing Your Business Using Technology” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 1. Learn about a social media strategy and how to gain insight into customers’ behavior and build a loyal customer base.

• Tiffany Macke from the Clark and Edgar County U of I Extension office will present “Small Town Customer Service Means Big Revenues” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8. Macke will show that customer service is key to business success. Excellent hospitality to visitors is the best way to get them to learn more about a town, stay overnight and do a little shopping.

• Brian Bothast, with the Peoria OSHA office of the Department of Labor will present, “A Guide to OSHA: New Standards for All Businesses” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 13. He will provide a presentation on effective safety and health programs, the emphasis areas for OSHA inspectors and recent changes to OSHA requirements. Participants are asked to bring their safety and health questions to the interactive session.

There will be door prizes, giveaways and light refreshments. Registration is recommended. Call the library at 217-826-2535 or the Chamber at 217-826-2034.
