As the new school year gets under way, Stadler’s barber shop on the city’s northside will offer free haircuts Aug. 27 for boys in grades K-12.
Shop owner Art Stadler said the free haircuts by the shops four barbers will be part of a daylong event at the shop at 1919 Maple Ave. Other activities, to which families are invited, consist of emergency vehicles, including a Lifeline helicopter, on display; a bounce house; clowns and balloons; pony and horse rides; an antique car show; and a free lunch for children of hot dogs, chips and a cold drink. Adults can purchase a lunch for $1.
Several other special free haircut days for men are planned by the shop, including one for ministers and missionaries on Oct. 15, when there will be live gospel music; military (active and veterans) and emergency responders, Nov. 11; and a family day on Dec. 17.
Stadler said the events are being hosted by the shop as a way to give back to the community.
