Last Will and Testimony program set

TERRE HAUTE — The free educational program “Last Will and Testimony” for special needs will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at Vigo County Public Library in lower level classrooms B and C at 1 Library Square.

Last Will and Testimony is a four-part information packed fast paced program designed to provide resources so people can make informed choices regarding long-range planning and enhance their quality of life. This class will cover four specific parts (not necessarily in sequence listed):

Part one: Special needs law Instruction includes information about rights, wills and trusts, power of attorney’s, living wills, trusts;

Part two: Asset protection details health and life insurance, keys to successful investing, tax efficient transfers of wealth without a revocable trust, how to title assets to accomplish goals, Social Security benefits, life care planning, long term insurance and more;

Part three: Vital resources to enhance and ensure quality of life: This section will focus on living accommodation options and information regarding resources available, Medicaid waivers, special education, funeral planning — specifically explaining the difference between pre-planning and pre-paying — benefits to pre-planning, the advantages of pre-paying and how to do both. Additionally, cremation and green burials will be discussed as well;

Part four: Eternal living accommodations provides information to ensure peace of mind and offers information to ensure “post” life assurance.

A light lunch will be provided courtesy of Vista Care Hospice

Upon completion of the classroom presentation, participants will receive a certificate.

The Last Will and Testimony class is offered quarterly. The next class will meet in April.
