CARLISLE — The Wabash Valley Correctional Facility has been awarded national accreditation by the American Correctional Association.

The three-year accreditation award was presented to Richard Brown, WVCF superintendent, during the ACA Winter Conference in Houston, Texas. Christopher Epps, ACA president, complimented the facility on its professional level of operation.

ACA standards address services, programs, health care and security operations essential to effective correctional management. WVCF received a final overall score of 99.8 percent compliance (100 percent mandatory, 99.8 percent non-mandatory), the best performance to date for the maximum-security facility.

The WVCF is one of more than 1,500 correctional organizations currently involved in accreditation across the nation.
