Networks Financial Institute, recognized nationally for its focus on insurance reform and financial literacy issues, is releasing a first-of-its-kind report and recommendations to inform the establishment of the newly created Federal Insurance Office.
A Report to the Federal Insurance Office contains more than a dozen expert-informed recommendations corresponding to the specific tasks Congress directed the FIO to speak to when it issues its report to Congress early next year. The FIO was created by the landmark Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Law — commonly known as the Dodd-Frank Act — enacted last summer.
“Dodd-Frank requires that by early 2012, the FIO submit a comprehensive report to Congress with recommendations to modernize and improve insurance regulation in the United States. This is a most important report, and NFI is proud to be the first sector expert to present a comprehensive set of recommendations and guidance to inform the FIO’s document,” said Terrie Troxel, interim executive director of NFI.
