• On Oct. 18, Indiana State Police Superintendent Paul Whitesell announced the promotion of Senior Trooper Jason P. Owen to the rank of sergeant, where he will serve as a Crime Scene Investigator. He received this promotion through written testing and a competitive interview process.

As a Crime Scene Investigator, a portion of his duties will include, but not be limited to, responding and conducting crime scene investigations, preserving, collecting and documenting forensic evidence, providing crime scene testimony for trials, and assisting officers and agencies with matters concerning crime scene investigations.

He will primarily be responsible for crime scene investigations in and around the Terre Haute District.

Owen is a 13-year veteran of the department, having been assigned to the Bremen District for his first two years before transferring to his home district of Terre Haute. He has been a road patrol trooper his entire career.

During his years, Owen has served in the Tactical Intervention Platoon and on the Clandestine Lab Team.

He was most recently assigned to the High Performance Vehicle Patrol where he patrolled the highways using an unmarked Ford Mustang.

Owen is a Vigo County native and graduate of West Vigo High School and Indiana State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology.

He is married with three children and the family resides in Vigo County.



• John Doan has joined Mace Ford at its new dealership. John returns to Terre Haute to resume his career in automotive sales, and he brings with him a rich tradition in selling Ford cars and trucks.
