WAXI Radio purchased by Dave Crooks of DLC Media Inc.

ROCKVILLE — Radio Station WAXI-FM 104.9 is being sold and the owner plans to move the station to its original home.

Dave Crooks, President of DLC Media Inc., announced today his media company will purchase the station from Crossroads Investments LLC. The station, licensed to Rockville, was moved to Terre Haute in 2002.

Crooks plans on moving the studio back to its original location south of Rockville. “I’m excited about investing in Parke County and I’m looking forward to providing great local programming and jobs to the community,” he said.

WAXI recently changed its music format at the request of Crooks from Classic Rock to “The True Oldies Channel,” featuring the greatest hits from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Crooks said that once his company takes control, a new morning show with local personalities and extensive local news and information will be added. WAXI will continue to broadcast Parke County High School Sports and Chicago Cubs Baseball. Additional programming will be announced in the near future.

DLC Media Inc. is based in Washington, Ind. Crooks’ company owns and operates WAMW-FM 107.9 and WAMW-AM 1580 and 95.9. DLC Media also operates WFML-FM 96.7 in Vincennes on behalf of the Vincennes University Foundation. DLC Media operates several websites, including Hoosier Employment Dot com. His company employs 14 people. Crooks plans on hiring at least six employees when he officially returns the radio station to the Rockville area.

Crooks is a former state representative and is the Democrat nominee for Congress in Indiana’s 8th District. Crooks worked at WAXI as an account executive in 1983. He has been in the broadcast business since 1981.
