Indiana Chamber seeks ‘Best Places to Work’ applications by Dec. 3

----

---- — Applications are being accepted for the state’s annual competition naming the “Best Places to Work in Indiana.” In its sixth year, this Indiana Chamber of Commerce program honors the top companies in the state as determined through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys.

New for 2011 is a change to open the program to more businesses. Previously, companies needed to have 25 Hoosier employees; now that number is 15. Out-of-state parent companies are also eligible to participate if at least 15 full-time employees are in Indiana.

The application deadline is Dec. 3.

The Best Companies Group, which has overseen similar programs in other states and large cities, is responsible for the selection process. The basis for this initiative is Fortune magazine’s noted “100 Best Companies to Work for in America.”

A record 70 companies were honored as a Best Place to Work this year. The Indiana Chamber hopes to build on that total for the 2011 program.

“There are so many outstanding employers in the state that understand the importance of providing a positive work environment,” said Indiana Chamber President Kevin Brinegar. “We encourage them to participate in this Best Places to Work program so we can honor those deserving businesses that make company culture a priority.”

All participating companies will receive an in-depth evaluation identifying strengths and weaknesses according to their employees. In turn, this report can be used in developing or enhancing employee retention and recruitment programs.

The top Hoosier companies will be honored on May 5 at the Best Places to Work awards dinner – presented by Comcast – at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis. Winners will also be recognized via a special supplement to the Indiana Chamber’s bimonthly BizVoice magazine and through Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick – both of which reach statewide audiences.

Program partners with the Chamber and BizVoice are Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and Best Companies Group.

In addition to Comcast, Best Places to Work in Indiana is sponsored by Energy Systems Group, Mussett Nicholas + Associates, FedEx, Matrix Integration and Roche Diagnostics Corporation.

Additional industry-exclusive sponsorships are available by contacting Jim Wagner at (317) 264-6876 or jwagner@indianachamber.com.
