The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute’s Traffic Safety Division has launched a new Twitter account aimed at promoting traffic safety awareness statewide.
The mission of the Traffic Safety Division is to reduce death, injury, property damage and economic cost associated with traffic crashes on Indiana’s roadways. The agency will now have an opportunity to reach a new generation of drivers with messaging who are at more at risk than other drivers for becoming involving in impaired, distracted and dangerous driving collisions.
“I believe that we need to use the most effective platforms possible to communicate messages that have the ability to save lives,” said Mary Allen, ICJI executive director.
Followers can also receive updates regarding statewide traffic safety initiatives that focus on seat belt safety, teen driving and motorcycle safety.
“We feel like this medium in particular will be a great way to reach a more ‘mobile’ segment of the population who may not ordinarily watch or be home to catch the 5 p.m. news every evening,” said Ryan Klitzsch, Traffic Safety Division director.
The Traffic Safety Division encourages drivers of all ages, law enforcement officials, reporters, schools and other public/private agencies to follow @ICJI_TSD for the latest traffic safety news.
