Bank accepting Haiti relief donations

TERRE HAUTE — Harris Bank locations throughout the Wabash Valley are accepting financial gifts on behalf of the American Red Cross for Haiti Relief. Harris also is offering its customers free wire transfers to Haiti to further support individuals and organizations affected by the disaster.

“In response to the massive devastation in Haiti, we felt it was critical to do what we could to help,” said John Frieburg III, regional president-Central Indiana for Harris. “In addition to offering free wire transfers to Haiti and accepting donations on behalf of the Red Cross at our 280 branches throughout Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin, our company also has contributed $250,000 to the Red Cross for Haiti relief, and our employees to date have donated more than $10,000 to this important cause.”

“The American Red Cross Wabash Valley Chapter has engaged in partnership in the past with local Harris locations,” noted Carol Stevens, chapter executive director. “And once again Harris leadership has demonstrated its humanitarian spirit in the midst of great human tragedy. We are grateful for the support of their leadership and employees.”
