PHOTO UPDATE: Chamber of Commerce chooses new president

TERRE HAUTE — Ken Brengle has been selected as the new president and chief executive officer of the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce. The announcement of Brengle’s hiring came at a morning news conference today.

He will begin his new duties May 15.

Brengle is an experienced chamber of commerce and economic development executive and consultant, according to a Chamber news release. His career spans more than 30 years, with more than 20 of those spent as a chief executive officer (CEO).

The search began last summer and used a search firm.

Norm Lowery, Chamber board chairman, said that “Ken brings extensive Chamber professional experience and success that will prove invaluable. I would also like to thank the search committee for their commitment and dedication to successfully recruit a person of Ken’s caliber to lead the Chamber going forward.”

Bob Quatroche, interim Chamber president, will work directly with Ken Brengle to ensure a smooth transition over the next several weeks, Lowery said.

Brengle said he is “excited and pleased to become a part of the Chamber’s leadership team, particularly at a time when the Wabash Valley and Terre Haute are entering a new era in its history. My family and I looking forward to being part of the community and making Terre Haute our home.”

He previously served as CEO for the West Chamber of Commerce in Jefferson County, Colorado, a market of 250,000.

He also was the executive of the Big Bear Lake (California) Resort Association, where he facilitated the design of, assembled funding for and managed a $1.5 million marketing campaign.

As president/CEO of the Montrose (Colorado) Association of Commerce & Tourism, he directed the initiation of a multi-county “buy local” campaign.

He has maintained a consulting practice throughout his career.

In addition, Brengle has served as the CEO of Chambers of Commerce in Cheyenne, Wyo.; Durango, Colo.; Torrance, Calif., and Cortez, Colo.

He held staff positions as vice president for marketing and membership for the $6 million-in-budget Pensacola (Florida) Chamber; as assistant manager of the Fort Collins (Colorado) Chamber; and as vice president-investor relations for the Adams County (Colo.) Economic Development Corporation.

He is one of only 200 active Certified Chamber Executives (CCE) in the U.S.

Brengle is married and has a 12-year-old son and three adult children. He enjoys golf, Scouting and biking.
