SCORE to conduct workshop Saturday

SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, will conduct a workshop from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday for those considering starting their own business or small business owners seeking business advice. The workshop will be conducted in the Vigo County Public Library, Seventh and Poplar streets.

It will cover such topics as characteristics of successful business people, forms of business organization, management and operations, marketing, financing options, writing a business plan, and how SCORE can help. Handouts are included in the cost.

SCORE is the premier business counseling and advice service in the United States and operates in cooperation with the U.S. Small Business Administration to provide entrepreneurs with the information to help them succeed and grow their businesses. All counseling services of SCORE are free.

Registration and a $25 donation is requested by Wednesday by calling the SCORE office at (812) 231-6763.

MillerWhite earns awards for marketing

Working for results on behalf of its clients has earned recognition for MillerWhite LLC from the Indiana Bankers Association and the Summit International Awards competition.

Terre Haute Savings Bank has received a 2009 MAXI Award from the IBA for the television spot “The Economy Is What It Is,” created by MillerWhite. Maxi Awards recognize excellence in bank marketing and advertising throughout Indiana.

A Silver Summit Award went to MillerWhite for a radio spot developed for IHOP Restaurant’s 50th birthday celebration. In addition, the firm received a Bronze Summit Award for the Wabash Valley Community Foundation’s year-end giving card direct mail. Summit Award entries, which come from the United States and more than 20 foreign countries, are judged on innovative and creative concepts, strong execution and the ability to communicate and persuade.

MillerWhite provides integrated marketing/research, public relations, advertising and interactive media services to its clients from offices in Terre Haute and Indianapolis.
