FedEx Kinkos ribbon cutting set for Feb. 28

TERRE HAUTE — A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 4 p.m. Feb. 28 at the new FedEx Kinkos in front of Honey Creek Mall on U.S. 41 South.

The new business, which officially opened Feb. 12, will offer FedEx shipping, copying, printing and finishing services, computer and Internet access, sign making, fax service, packaging and business supply retail products, said center manager Thomas Richards.

“We’re trying to be a one-stop kind of place,” Richards said.

The new business is part of a large-scale “ramping up” of FedEx Kinkos locations all across the country, Richards said. The company plans to open 2,000 new stores by 2012. In February alone, 45 new FedEx Kinkos were planned to open, he said.

FedEx, the shipping giant, bought Kinkos, a copying and business services provider, in 2004. FedEx’s main shipping competitor, UPS, made a similar move in 2001 when it bought Mail Boxes Etc.
