TERRE HAUTE —
One person has been airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital as the result of a collision between a tanker truck and a passenger vehicle this morning near Terre Haute North Vigo High School.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Maple and Fruitridge avenues prior to 8 a.m.
Terre Haute Police are investigating the accident. One person was trapped inside the passenger car and had to be extricated by emergency personnel.
Though the accident occurred near the school, Superintendent Dan Tanoos said no students or faculty members were involved in the incident. However, staff members did respond to the scene to assist with traffic control and help to set up a landing zone for the medical helicopter.
