BREAKING: Body found outside Clinton residence

Police say no foul play expected

Clinton Police are investigating a death on the city’s north side after a body was found early this morning outside a residence. The deceased did not live at that address, according to police, but was a resident of the city.

No foul play is suspected, police chief Curtis Stoffel told the Tribune-Star. An autopsy is to be conducted Saturday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

The identity of the person, a man in his 40s, will not be released until Saturday to allow for family notification of the death, Chief Stoffel said.

Stoffel said police were notified at about 4 a.m. today of the body found outside a single-family residence in the area of 12th and Anderson streets. The homeowner normally rises around that time, Stoffel said, and went outside, where the body was discovered.

Police view the case as a “normal death investigation,” the chief said, adding it could take several days or a few weeks to have a final determination, depending on the autopsy results.

It is unknown how long the man’s body was outside the home before it was discovered.
