TERRE HAUTE —
Vigo County officials have downgraded road warnings but advise drivers to remain cautious.
J.D. Kesler, spokesman for the Vigo County Emergency Management Agency, reported Saturday morning that the road condition warnings have been downgraded to a “Level 3” warning, meaning drivers should use extreme caution, but driving is allowable. County commissioners posted a “Level 1” warning late Friday evening after freezing rain sent dozens of vehicles off the roads.
Events throughout the Wabash Valley remained canceled today due to icy conditions. The annual SADD Games at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was canceled, as well as all other Vigo County School Corp. events. Ivy Tech Community College reported its facilities were closed today as did Terre Haute Boys & Girls Club. Individuals with activities planned should check with organizations to determine whether or not they are still in the works.
Temperatures are expected to reach 30 degrees today, and Kesler said the county has been spraying roads with a saline solution to help remove ice.
