TERRE HAUTE —
Rose-Hulman football coach Steve Englehart has resigned his position with the Engineers to become offensive coordinator at Indiana State.
In turn, Rose-Hulman has named Jayson Martin as its interim football coach.
Englehart, an ISU graduate, coached at Rose-Hulman for four years and compiled a 26-14 record.Englehart's teams won at least six games in each season, it was the best four-year stretch the Engineers have had since the 1987-90 seasons.
Englehart takes over as offensive coordinator for the departed Troy Walters, who resigned last week to take an assistant coaching position at Texas A&M. Englehart's move to ISU has been rumored for about a week, but it only became official Thursday.
Martin is in his third year on the Rose-Hulman coaching staff. He was the Engineers' offensive coordinator in 2009.
Rose-Hulman indicated that a national search for a new head football coach would commence at the end of the season.
