Colts lose linebacker Cato June to Tampa Bay

INDIANAPOLIS — Make it three for three when it comes to the Indianapolis Colts' most coveted unrestricted free agents.

Just a week after running back Dominic Rhodes signed with the Oakland Raiders and four days after cornerback Nick Harper inked a contract with the Tennessee Titans, outside linebacker Cato June completed the trifecta Saturday when he agreed to a three-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Other terms of the contract were not immediately available. The signing was initially announced on the Buccaneers' website Saturday afternoon.

June had started at weak side linebacker for the Colts for the past three years and was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 2005 season. He led Indianapolis in tackles two of the last three seasons, including totaling 162 stops along with one sack and three interceptions.

The former University of Michigan standout will now join a crowded and talented group of linebackers in Tampa, where he could end up lining up alongside Derrick Brooks and Sheldon Quarles. Both June and Brooks played weakside linebacker for their respective teams in the Cover 2 defensive system in 2006.
