BREAKING: John Gregg makes campaign for Governor official

Formal launch to follow soon

SANDBORN, Ind. — John Gregg, who this past May formed an exploratory committee to run for governor of Indiana, filed paperwork with the state today to change his committee to an official statewide campaign for governor, states today’s Gregg for Indiana email release.

A formal campaign launch will be announced soon.

“For the last several months I’ve listened to Hoosiers throughout the state,” Gregg said. “I’ve traveled to neighborhoods and communities from Evansville to Elkhart, and I’ve earned the endorsements of 52 mayors from across Indiana."

“Hoosiers are saying they want leadership that focuses on putting people back to work, not the same old political games from career politicians. I want Hoosiers to know that I hear them, and I am committed to building an even better Indiana. Now let’s get to work.”

Gregg was Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives from 1996 to 2002. He led the House when it was evenly split with 50 Republicans and 50 Democrats and brought both parties together to pass legislation to create jobs, improve public education and keep taxes low.

Gregg retired from the House in 2002 to return to Sandborn and spend time with his two sons. He then served as interim president of Vincennes University and now practices law in Vincennes with the Indiana law firm of Bingham McHale.
