Country artist Miranda Lambert coming to Terre Haute

Little Big Town to open Sept. 8 concert in Hulman Center

TERRE HAUTE — Miranda Lambert, a spunky shooting star on the Nashville scene, will bring her Revolution Continues Tour to ISU’s Hulman Center on Sept. 8.

“It’s going to be a great concert” and a great way to kick off back-to-school and the fall, said Jennifer Cook, assistant director for business and marketing at Hulman Center. “We’re really working hard to bring quality concerts to Terre Haute, and we’re extremely thrilled that a show of this caliber is coming to town.”

The 2011 Academy of Country Music Top Female Vocalist and Country Music Association’s 2010 Female Vocalist of the Year is well-known for her first hit single, “Me and Charlie Talking,” and has since won notoriety alongside the big guns in Nashville with “Gunpowder & Lead,” “Kerosene,” “White Liar,” “Only Prettier” and the more recent ACM and CMA award-winning “House That Built Me.”

According to Lambert’s website, her albums “Kerosene,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” and “Revolution” all have been certified platinum, with “Crazy Ex” winning Album Of The Year honors in 2008 from the Academy of Country Music, and “Revolution” the same honor in 2010 from the CMA.

Lambert announced July 8 on Good Morning America and her website that “Hell on Heels” by The Pistol Annies, a band including Ashley Monroe, Angaleena Presley and herself, will debut Aug. 23. Lambert’s fourth solo album, “Four The Record,” will be released Nov. 1.

Little Big Town, a 2011 Grammy nominee, will open the Thursday night concert at 7:30 p.m.

According to CMT.com, the country vocal quartet released their second album, “The Road to Here,” which included the hit “Boondocks,” in 2005. The following year, the album was certified gold.

Little Big Town was named New Vocal Duo/Group in 2006 and 2007 by the Academy of Country Music and quickly gained momentum in Nashville in 2010 with the single, “Little White Church.”

Tickets are $45.75, $37.75 and $27.75, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 5 at all Ticketmaster outlets and the Hulman Center box office.
