The Haute Productions, a new music and event production company, will be bringing ATO Records recording artist Kopecky Family Band, Yearbook Committee and The Highland Reunion to Terre Haute’s Verve nightclub on March 20.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are available at www.thehaute.com to those 21 and over. The Verve is at 677 Wabash Ave.
Kopecky Family Band beats with the same heart and writes in the same blood. While the band may not share actual family bonds, the ties that keep this Nashville six-piece group together are just as strong.
The Family — Gabe (guitar, vocals), Kelsey (vocals, keys), Steven (lead guitar), Corey (bass), Markus (cello) and David (drums) — began in 2007. Creating emotive music with lyrics evoking raw honesty and vulnerability, Kopecky Family Band’s booming and orchestral-like sound captures the listener’s attention. Paste Magazine named the band one of the top 25 live shows in 2011.
The band has performed at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, SXSW and “Austin City Limits.” It also has co-headlined a spring tour with The Lumineers in 2012.
Their 2012 debut full-length album “Kids Raising Kids” has received critical and fan acclaim. Tour dates have been selling out, and the band was recently signed to a major record label, ATO Records, founded by Dave Matthews. The label is home to Alabama Shakes, My Morning Jacket, Drive-By Truckers and more. “Kids Raising Kids” will be re-released April 2.
Sharing the stage that night will be the Yearbook Committee, which is often praised as one of Terre Haute’s best bands. The Committee features six members — Christina Blust, Jon Dacosta, Al Doti who is filling in for Travis Dillon, David Goodier, Brad Lone and Rachel Rasley — who all contribute to the songwriting. Ranging from funk to pop to folk to rock, the band prides itself on creating a live show that showcases the members’ talents on multiple instruments — guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, banjos, horns and an accordion.
Rounding out the music madness will be a new band from Nashville, The Highland Reunion, that is more local to Terre Haute than to Nashville. It features three Indiana men (Jon DaCosta, Brook Ellis and Jimmy Rinehart) who now Tennessee their home.
The band will make its live debut, fittingly in its hometown. The band’s music “blends the raw energy of rock with the melodic moments of folk,” according to a press release. “This will be a band to watch in 2013.”
