Help make soup bowls for benefit event

TERRE HAUTE — Lend your creative skills to help feed those in need by handcrafting soup bowls at one of three bowl-making events in early December. More than 500 soup bowls are needed for the third annual Soup Bowl Benefit event on Feb. 2. The Soup Bowl Benefit supports Catholic Charities Foodbank and the 90 pantries and soup kitchens it supplies to serve the needy in a seven-county area.

Bowl-making events are:

• Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m., Indiana State University Art Annex, 537 N. Fourth St.

• Dec. 7 Miracle on 7th St., from 5 to 7 p.m., location TBA. Tickets for the Soup Bowl Benefit will also be sold at this exclusive pre-Holiday sale.

• Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, Hulman Hall ceramics studio.

All art supplies are provided free. Brickyard Ceramics and Clay City Pottery have donated all of the clay for the bowls. All vessels created at the events will be donated to the Soup Bowl benefit.

“Students, beginners and professionals alike have been so supportive of our need for bowls for the event. As the event has grown, so has our need for bowls. This is a wonderful way to give of your time and talent,” said Kathy Gotshall, bowl coordinator for the Soup Bowl benefit. For more information, contact Gotshall at 812-535-5162.
