Museum plans circus party for children

TERRE HAUTE — Following the Terre Haute Children’s Museum’s adult-themed “A Night at the Museum: Circus Spectacular!” which takes place Friday, will be a circus-themed family day, “Under the Big Top: The Science and Fitness of Circus!” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Where else but the Terre Haute Children’s Museum can visitors actually learn to juggle, spin plates in the air, and, yes, even walk a “tightrope,” while being taught the health and science that makes it all possible — the physics behind the fun.

The Terre Haute Children’s Museum will be jumping through hoops to stage a full day of circus wonder where families learn the theories of balance, centrifugal force, motion and gravity, while also educating their children about the importance of healthy eating and regular exercise.

The day will also include games and prizes and photo opportunities with actual circus performers, and those who attend the event will receive a special web link and code to receive a discount off of tickets for the upcoming Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey show in Indianapolis.

“Under the Big Top: The Science and Fitness of Circus” is free with museum admission. The Terre Haute Children’s Museum is at Eighth Street and Wabash Avenue in downtown Terre Haute. Regular admission is $7 for adults and children 2 and older, and admission is free for children up to 24 months. Members of the museum are also admitted for free. More information about the museum is available at www.thchildrensmuseum.com or www.facebook.com/terrehautechildrensmuseum.
