Nationally well-known author to appear at Putnam Library

GREENCASTLE, Ind. — The Putnam County Public Library will host author Jonathan Coleman at 6:30 p.m. Monday. He will read from his highly celebrated work as a nonfiction writer.

Coleman will be selling and signing copies of his most recent book, which he partnered with basketball legend Jerry West to write.

“West by West: My Charmed and Tormented Life” has been dubbed by The New Yorker as “deeply thoughtful in a way rare among books by former athletes.”

In 1985, “At Mother’s Request” was nominated for an Edgar Allan Poe Award and was turned into a miniseries on CBS. His other works include “Long Way to Go: Black and White in America” and “Exit the Rainmaker.”

Coleman is a member of PEN and is included in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, and Contemporary Authors. He has written for the New York Times (both the Magazine and Book Review), Newsweek, The New Yorker, New York Magazine, Sports Illustrated, the Washington Post (both Style and Book World), the Chicago Tribune and the Texas Observer among other publications. Over the course of his career, he has been interviewed on most of the major television and radio shows, including “Today,” “Oprah,” “Larry King Live,” “Good Morning America,” “Vanished,” “48 Hours,” “All Things Considered,” “Inside Edition,” Court TV’s “Power, Privilege and Justice,” and has been profiled major newspapers.
